Programme Overview & Summary
Four day course that introduces the importance of safety and sustainability in projects, explains how to deliver safe and sustainable projects, and outlines the requirements for effective project management for safety and sustainability.
Style and Approach
Interactive and participative using a mixture of digital tools, breakouts/groups, facilitator input, group discussions and debates, facilitator and peer feedback.
Audience
Existing Project Managers who intend to improve their knowledge of implementing safety and sustainability into their projects throughout the GRIP/PACE framework. Less experienced staff looking to take on project management roles and those who have recently adopted project management responsibilities.
Programme Structure
This course uses a combination of discussion and interactive activities and the spirit of the course is one of some input, discussion and building your own knowledge of safe and sustainable project management as it relates to your role.

Preparing for the workshop
No preparatory work explicitly required however initial exposure to Geo-RINM software is valuable for one of the sustainability content exercises.they interface with CSM RA.

These are the topics that the delegate will cover over the 2 day course:
- Day 1 (14:00-16:30): Why Safety and Sustainability are Important to the Railway
- Day 2 (09:00-16:00): Delivering Projects Safely and Delivering Safe Projects
- Day 3 (09:00-16:30): Delivering Projects Sustainably
- Day 4 (09:00-13/14:00): Effective Project Management for Safety and Sustainability (& Assessment of Learning).
Course Learning Outcomes
At the end of the training the delegate will be able to:
- Gain additional safety and sustainability awareness
- Embed practical safety and sustainability management within Network Rail projects to achieve positive safety and sustainability outcomes.
