Programme Overview & Summary

The APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) is a knowledge-based qualification developed by the Association for Project Management (APM), the chartered body for the project profession. By completing this course you will be able to demonstrate an understanding of how all elements of project management interact and how your project fits into your strategic and commercial environment.

Style and Approach

This course covers provides comprehensive coverage of the PMQ syllabus: 11 learning outcomes and 67 assessment criteria – the specific topics you are required to know.

Audience

The PMQ is aimed at anyone with pre-existing project management knowledge and at least 2 years experience of leading projects, ideally in a project manager role. This course is NOT for anyone new to project management or anyone wanting to gain a broad understanding of the principles of the subject – if this is you, please book onto the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ) course.

Programme Structure

In this intensive course, you will be asked to complete 20hrs of digital learning over a 4 week period and attend a 3 day onsite course. There will be evening work 4-6 hours completing mock exam questions. At the end of the course you will be expected to take 3:15 min hour exam.

Preparing for the workshop

Launch event: 1 hour, where you will be given access to your digital learning.

Prerequisite & Requirements

This workshop is for any Network Rail employee and is the first step in the APM suite of certifications.

Course Duration

20 hours over 4 weeks digital learning followed by a 3 day course (21 hours) and a 3:15 hrs exam.

Course Learning Commitment

This is an intensive course and please ensure you can commit the time to it. The structure of your course is:

  • Launch event: 1 hour, where you will be given access to your digital learning
  • Digital learning: minimum 20 hours over 4 weeks (you must complete your digital learning in full before your live event)
  • 3 day course: 21 hours
  • Evening work: 4-6 hours doing mock exam questions
  • Any additional study before your exam
  • Exam: 3h 15 minutes, closed-book, 10 short essay-style questions (from a choice of 16), each question is worth 50 marks, 273 marks (55%) to pass.
