Programme Overview & Summary
The APM Project Fundamentals qualification (PFQ), is a knowledge-based qualification developed by Association
for Project Management (APM, the chartered body for the project profession. The PFQ is the first step in the APM suite
of certifications and provides: A fundamental awareness of project management terminology, a broad understanding
of the principles of the profession, the knowledge to make a positive contribution to any project.
Style and Approach
This course covers provides comprehensive coverage of the PMQ syllabus: 10 learning outcomes and 59 assessment criteria – the specific topics you are required to know.
Audience
APM PFQ is for anyone wanting a broad understanding of the principles of the profession. You don’t need any prior knowledge or experience for this qualification.
Programme Structure
In this intensive course, you will be asked to complete 15hrs of digital learning over a 3 week period and attend a 1 day onsite course. At the end of the course you will be expected to take 1 hour exam.

This workshop is for any Network Rail employee and is the first step in the APM suite of certifications.

APM PFQ is Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCCF) level 6, and Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) level 3 (equivalent to A-Level). This course includes your PFQ examination, and all course materials to prepare you fully.

Course Learning Commitment
This is an intensive course and please ensure you can commit the time to it. The structure of your course is:
- Launch event: 1 hour, where you will be given access to your digital learning
- Digital learning: minimum 15 hours over 3 weeks (you must complete your digital learning in full before your live event)
- 1 day course: 7 hours
- Any additional study before your exam
- Exam: 1 hour, multiple choice, closed book, 60 questions, 36 correct answers (60%) to pass
