An introduction to finance for non finance managers
Programme Overview & Summary
This introductory workshop is designed for people who are not in a dedicated financial role including those managing a budget or involved in making financial decisions.
The workshop provides delegates with the skills and underpinning knowledge required to have a better understanding of finance within Network Rail. It does not give route specific information in terms of the running of budgets etc. but will introduce how money flows in Network Rail and the key concepts around financial terminology.
Style and Approach
Highly practical experiential learning sessions with a modern approach to learning which is professional and engaging.
Audience
This is an introduction and is aimed at line managers with little or no financial experience.

Outcomes

- Recognise how money flows in a business and how it is accounted for
- Outline the principles of forecasting and budgeting
- Discuss how to benchmark performance and to recognise areas where performance is slipping
- Explain the contribution that financial information makes to the business decisions of a manager
